Ted Stevens, the longest serving Reboolican Senator from err, ah, ALASKA, has been found guilty of corruption charges by a D.C. jury. The jury unanimously found the Senator guilty on all charges. At issue were gifts received in 2001 from Veco Corporation, a corporation founded the same year that Stevens was first elected to the Senate, 1969. I’ll bet they’ve made some really sweet deals in all that time.
In a really strange twist of fate, he can no longer vote, being a “convicted felon”, at the polling places as you and I, not even for dog catcher However, he can still walk into the United States Senate Chamber and vote on matters of utmost importance to us all. He will also continue to receive his $169,300 annual salary plus health benefits. Surely another sweet deal. He is a true Republican though, given the best that our society has to offer, he only wanted more.
